Leaf springs

Post by Sleeper »

So as not to drift Kevin s thread any further I've started a new one..having bought new springs ( 5 leaf) to replace the old springs ( 7 leaf) , which I could swear were made of concrete , was looking into wrapping the springs..and so..

Decided on Denso Tape ( or next best ) and managed to pick up some "oilcloth" at the last auto-jumble , the springs were soaked for a while in oil then fitted to the axle and while in place neoprene packing added to the spring guides then wrapped in "Denso " tape , the outer wrap was the "oil-cloth" just to keep things in place and covered.

One roll was more then enough to do both springs..

looks fine to me, this is what I had on my Landie for many years and they were fine inside when I eventually replaced the tape.
