Phasing out petrol and diesel vehicles

Post by Mike Shipman »

Apologies if this topic has been covered elsewhere, I couldn’t find anything.
The news today had the story that the govt. is being lobbied to bring forward the phasing out of petrol and diesel in favour of electric cars from 2040 to 2032.
Has there been any announcement of what happens to our Morris Minors? Do we simply have to convert to electric or have them disposed of?
I am very concerned about this.
Thanks.

There is no suggestion at present to stop the use of existing petrol or diesel etc vehicles being used on the roads... the proposed ban only applies to new vehicles built/sold in 2040 and also does not ban hybrid vehicles at present.

As all Morris minors have already been made it seems to me they will not be banned under this legislation ....also you cannot get much more environmentally friendly than a recycled/refurbished classic car as most of the environmental damage is done during manufacture and disposal of vehicles.

Sorry, no. Horses fart methane which is a worse greenhouse gas than CO2. We wouldn't be able to afford the road tax.
