I have recently purchased a 1955 Morris Minor series 11, Joined the club, I live in Auckland New Zealand and Gerty was a New Zealand New car purchased in Christchurch.
I have never owned a Minor before but have some experience with Mini's having owned a few in the past, also Hillman Imps, Hilman Hunters etc, and over the years at least 150 different cars never really having an emotional attachment to any (except the MX5) iv fallen for Gerty shes a lady that needs some TLC to make her beautiful once more.
I wanted a project to keep me busy and think Iv done well with Gerty, she's been dry stored since 1990 (28years) but is in real need of some serious restoration. So shes now No1 on my bucket list, have over the last 10 years dodged the bullet from some serious accidents that have left mobility a challenging and earlier this year a heart attack and surgery so I thought it was time to get busy on that bucket list.
So shes solid and curvy a few rusty spots but nothing major, new front drivers wing and one-floor pannel maybe, the rest will come out after blasting, I'm hoping to do a good job that will see Gerty back on the road looking like the lovely lady she once was. Iv added a few pictures of her coming home.
I'll try and detail as much as I can her progress and hope I can do her justice.
