Hello from croydon

Hi all

I thought it was probably time to say an overdue "hello" to all on this site, espescaily as I've been on here for a while and had bought my 71 pick-up in November 2018 from a very nice gentleman from this site up in Scotland.

I had been saving and looking for a while and when Morry finaly came up it, it was worth the effort getting him back down to Croydon here in south london.

Hi,
Nice looking Pick-up you have there.
Funnily enough this makes it one in and one out then, as I drove Sally, my 1954 4 door splittie, home from East Croydon last year.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Door cards are easy fix!

Nice new door cards there, might be worth weatherproofing the hardboard backing, before they get damp and warp.
There was an article on this subject on here a while back but I can't find it now, hopefully someone on here knows the one and can post up a link.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Just seen this recommended for waterproofing the door cards backing boards, what do others think?

I would go for diluted Unibond.

I wouldn't bother with all that. make sure the car is watertight and the door cards will be dry.

Finaly sourced some fibre glass side pannels for the pick-up. I would love to say i fitted them myself but im affraid i broke more than i fixed with that particular job, so the boys at LMG Kent did us proud.

Still looking for a rear pannel, but we're making progress.

That's a good idea, you keep the rigidity of the solid structure that was attached to rear of the pickup but improve it's looks 100% by returning it to a standard look but with panels that won't rot out. You are right though, you will need a solid tail gate.
Also, if you want to be able to fit a weatherproof cover you will need to reinforce the fibreglass in places, though I suppose that's stating the obvious.
Looks good though.
Don't know if the (link) below is still available.....
Best wishes,
Mike.

Since being on lock down I have had to really pause on the restoration of the pickup, but we had some DIY bits left over and probably just enough to make a parcel shelf. So I gave it a go and the result is below. Even better total cost for the build was about £2 for some makeshift brackets.

Also I took the chance to move the ecu from the dash to the glove box.

Hi Mike, I know it's a few months since your posted link, but could I please ask if you would kindly repost it? The link is showing as unavailable.
As always thanks to everyone for sharing their tips and ideas. It's much appreciated, as I'm still a newbie too.

Hi,
It has been a while and, to be honest, I can't remember what it was I spotted now.
However, I had a look and came across this product. A couple of coats may do the trick.
Has anyone else on here used this to waterproof backing boards?
Best wishes,
Mike.

Hi
So this weekend, I spent some time refurbishing the seats. I would really recommend these kits from ebay seller elanorwillis. The diaphragm is especially good for bottom of the seat as it eliminates the fuss of the straps. Not bad for afternoon's work. I should probably cut the grass now.
