Could this Morris 1000 (64) be used?

I'm after some advice!

I am in the process of sorting my late fathers estate and this lovely old thing is in need of a new home, Morris 1000 1964. It was last on the road in 1991!

My dad was a car mechanic refurbing it and 25 years ago it was left in his garage by a client deceased. His family didn't want it as there was money outstanding on the refurb so they told him to keep it. It has no log book or chassis number as my dad replaced it. The reg number is fab! It has been sat for 5 years now. Is it worth anything to anyone? I would be really sad if it couldn't be used in some way.

Welcome. Sorry to hear of the reason for the sale. As to whether the car can be viably saved is going to depemnd on its condition, which will need a lot more photos and probably a visit to assess. What is the location of the car (approximately, not precisely)? Title is going to be interesting without any paperwork, but not impossible. What's the status of the car with the DVLA?

From what we can see in the one photo, it doesn't look too bad for a long-term stored (I've seen much worse brought back to life), but it's what we can't see that is important.

An old Morris Minor is always worth "something". Even if it could only be used for spare parts it will have some value. Without any paperwork or chassis number it is more difficult to return to the road - and it looks as if it has no swivel pin/hub on one side at least? If that is the case, it'll will make it more difficult and expensive to recover. There may well be a local MMOC branch in your area. If you tell us whereabouts in the country you are somebody will be able to help.

Worcestershire index mark "FAB" used 9/61 & 2/65, if vehicle is on a C plate, would make it a very late '64.
Chassis stamped into the b/head, BMHT will, for a fee, issue a Heritage Certificate based on this number.

Check the DVLA site to see whether vehicle is on there.

If it was used as late as 1991 it should be on the DVLA computer. Go into ‘Check vehicle taxed’ on their website and enter the reg. number. It won’t be taxed of course but it will tell you if they have a record for it. If they have you can apply for a v5c.
