How many shades of Grey??

Post by jagnut66 »

Hi,

http://potteries.mmoc.org.uk/Identify.htm

A very useful link indeed but my 1954 cars colour is just noted as 'Dark Grey', however scrolling through the lists it seems there were several variations on Dark Grey................
Can anyone help me pin down the right colour to order.
Just spray cans for localised touching up from one of the main suppliers initially and later I will need to know what to order for a full respray.
Any help / links are greatly appreciated.
See my code and a pic of the car below, if this helps (not worried about people seeing the engine number, as this is long gone...).
Many thanks,
Mike.

I do like the Clarendon on your (resprayed?) example. :P It's a fine looking car too.
It's a bit more specific than 'Dark Grey' as well, plus I can just imagine them asking me: "And which shade of Dark Grey would that be then sir?"
Closely followed by: "Ooooh, suits you sir! Suits you!"
Best wishes,
Mike.

'Olwyn' was originally Imperial Green before she was resprayed at some point, in what opinion pointed to, being an Austin colour but no-one could quite pin it down.
Had finances allowed me to keep her, she would have gone back to Imperial Green at some point, as I really like that colour.

I have to admit, I am kicking myself here, as I never asked the new owner to give me first refusal if she comes up for sale again at some point in the future and I no longer have his number to ask him. Doh! :(
His name was Phil Williams, if anybody knows of him. That is if he is even a member of course.
Best wishes,
Mike.
