1956 Morris Minor DeLuxe possibly for sale
Hi All,
A guy that lives a few doors up from me has a 1956 Morris Minor DeLuxe that has been in a covered outhouse for about the last 25 years and it may be for sale.
To the best of my knowledge, the details are:
- 1956 MM Deluxe, 4 door. He told me that this model is undersealed.
- His late wife used to drive it and since she died (about 25 years ago) it has been stored in a covered outhouse. It is quite possible that he bought it new (he is late 80s years of age).
- Me mentioned to me that it was started a couple of years ago and ran OK. Part of the fuel system had rotted so a temporary fuel supply was rigged up.
So, a couple of questions:
1) Whilst I realize that any prospective purchaser would want to see the car first, especially to assess the condition, what would be an approximate fair value.
2) If I go back to him with further questions and take a few pics on my phone, what would you want to know?
3) Would this forum be a good place to sell it?
Technical questions are not a problem - I am an engineer and restore vintage motorcycles and drive an MG PA and an AH 3000.
Just FYI, I have zero monetary interest in this; I am just helping out an old boy that lives nearby and possibly finding someone that would be interested in restoring the car. I can be contacted directly at richardjrjohns@gmail.com.
Best Regards
Richard Johns

The big factor with a long unused Minor will be rust and depending on this it could be anything from ‘needs light recommissioning ‘ to ‘parts car’. If the engine will run, even with a remote fuel supply, this will be a plus and any other mechanical parts which can be checked. If it hasn’t moved in 25 years I don’t suppose the brakes will work so I wouldn’t recommend a road test. Most Minor mechanicals can be sorted without huge expense. A tidy interior would be a bonus.
It may well sell on here and the ad is free so there’s nothing to lose.

It is impossible to give a ball-park figure for the car as so much is unknown about it. Not even if it is a late SII or an early 1000 - it could be either if it is a 1956 car. The crucial thing will be its condition, particularly bodywork, underside and interior - and also how original it is. So, pictures of the car both outside, underneath, engine bay and interior will help arrive at a sensible value. It will need work if it has not been used for 25 years!

Re: 1956 Morris Minor DeLuxe possibly for sale
Folks,
I took some photos this morning of the MM that I refered to in my previous post - pics attached.
Another piece of information: there is no V5c (he just didn't get around to doing it at the time) but there is an old-style log book and the original bill of sale. I have not not seen either, but he told me he was not the first owner.
The car is obviously a little rusty but the bodywork and underfloor seem basically sound, ie it is not a rusted out heap.
If you are seriously interested in acquiring the car then please email me off-forum and we'll figure out how to proceed. A purchaser would also need to collect it on a trailer. There is fairly easy access to the building it is kept in.
It seems that I can only add 5 files at a time and so will make multiple posts.
BRgds

Looks like a pretty solid old thing with not much rust and a good interior. If it runs well you should have no trouble finding a buyer. It looks very original except perhaps a later engine, but that’s no disadvantage.

Thanks for putting it up on the forum and the photographs. Hope it finds a good home. It's a really early 1000.
