Lurking in the background FL? 782C

Post by Murrayminor »

Whilst looking at V8 powered Mercedes I came across this image showing a 1965 Morris Minor lurking in the undergrowth.
I see the registration as FLN 782C but there is no trace of that number, FLM 782C is shown as a white Minor.

I wonder of the owner of FLM 782C is a member?Image

you're right its not an 8, I was trying to zoom in but only got so far before I was unable to read it.
Yes now I can see the rear a little clearer it has been butchered somewhat.

Shame to see it rusting away though.

You'd think they'd at least have a tarp over it if they're thinking of returning to it.

I don't suppose it could be a Traveller and the back's been removed?
Looks like the windscreen is missing too, although the chrome is there....

Blow wasting money buying the Merc, chase up the owners of the Moggy instead and make them an offer!
It'll be cheaper than the Merc in that state anyway.....
And be worth more than it, once restored!
Plus no future depreciation! Win, win! :D
Better looking than the Merc too, IMO anyway...... :D
Best wishes,
Mike.

Jump in the Merc and drive away, do the same with the moggy, ———after years of blood, sweat and tears ! :(
—— and no, I’m not a Merc fan. :D

Am I reading it wrong or is the model designation of the Merc 'CLS SS'??
I suppose it could stand for Super Sports.............
Or does it??.................... :o

(Though I suspect only those who remember 'Secret Army' from the 70's will know who I'm on about.....)
Best wishes,
Mike.

The Mercedes in the picture is a CLS 55, a V8 powered saloon, a neighbour has an imported version the CLS 550 and I was just looking at the spec of the UK model.
I don't intend on buying one, putting fuel in a 5 litre, over 400bhp V8 is a bit out of my league.

Although I do like the Mercedes brand, I have an old C220CDI estate which I love, it does everything I ask of it (apart from fitting a Morris Minor bonnet in the boot), but it has carried everything else Minor related.

Yes its a shame to see the minor lay there, for anyone that is interested in the Minor here is the original advert for the Mercedes it may lead to the Resurrection of the Minor.

Ah, '55', I thought it was a bit risky for a German company to employ those initials, even if they had stood for 'Super Sports'.
Good idea to put up a link to the advert.
Best wishes,
Mike.
