Horn push

Post by Stevearniepalmer »

Hi All
I’ve a 1967 4 door and recently a garage that I use replaced the indicator stalk .
In order to do this he removed the horn and the parts so he could access the nut to remove the steering wheel.
The plastic bit that has the brown wire through the middle shattered and I didn’t see him remove it.

I’ve bought a new one but my question is this:
Does it just sit on top of the large nut that holds the steering wheel on or should it be held in place by something else?
I’ve attached it and I’m as surprised as anyone that the horn works!
Hope this isn’t a stupid question

The attached link shows the horn push set up on your "later " 67 Minor. Check out Item 120

This image shows the reverse side , parts assembled and the end part of the main spring. When fixing
the horn push to the steering wheel the spring pushes sideways , retaining the button push in situ.
So long as the push sits fully into the steering wheel central hub all is well. As the horn is now operational
on your car , I think you can conclude it's job done.
On to the next Minor issue or should that be minor ?
