I think the Rounded armrest was likely using the same as the concurrent model of the Morris Oxford. I found this image of a SII 1958 Oxford which looks very much like it.....

Well that was an interesting job!

Sorted now after a lot of quite difficult upholstery work!

Wow, that was all completed in a remarkably short time. Most people would still be thinking about it.
Congratulations.

Wow - fantastic job. They look pretty much like the originals did in my '54!

Thanks.
Hardest part was fitting of the fabric to be honest. The woodwork was straightforward thanks to the measurements supplied by myoldjalopy, and also the ones for the brackets.
What I would like to add would be some 66yr old patina, not quite sure how to go about that.
After using vinyl colour spray I used a small amount of T-Cut gently applied to take the gloss off but they still look too new for my liking.
Any ideas?

Nicely done!

I’ve got a friend in the UK who’s a leather worker. To distress repairs on bags he uses a toothbrush, shoe polish, scrub, wash with alcohol, repeat... try on an incongruous area first.

They look really good, probably stronger than the originals.
Like you say, they just need 'ageing'.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Or, in the absence of a handy chicken hutch, you might consider leaving them outdoors in the summer sun (if and when it ever returns!) for a week or so, checking frequently on the weathering process.

Having assumed that these armrests were fitted to all 4 door Series 11 models, it was interesting to look at a very original 1956 example recently and find that is was never fitted with these. Instead it has more of an early Minor 1000 style interior: The (leather covered) seats have a contrasting cream piping, all of the doors have a Minor 1000 style leather door pull and the smaller Minor 1000 type sunvisors are fitted. I attach a photo of the rear door. At least the owner will never have to worry about his armrests!
