Re: Still on the road or not
Hi
There is no way to trace a car when it's been given another number because the original was 'cherished' ........ unless the very long short that someone on these forums, now has the car and also knows what it's original number was.
As the lyric goes in "War of the Worlds",

So it might happen. I know what my car started with back in 1955...."The chances of anything coming from Mars
Are a million to one" he said
"The chances of anything coming from Mars
Are a million to one, but still they come!"

Does seem like a great reg if you're a fan of a certain French beer Shame it's now on a German car
As geoberni has said, there is no way for you to trace the replacement reg it will now have. Of course the chassis number should never change, so if you still have that info, then try contacting the club office and asking if they have it recorded. Data protection rules would prevent them giving you any details about the current owner, but they may be able to tell you if it's still out there or pass on a message.
Since you've posted the original reg on the forum, it should show up in an internet search. So it's possible the current or future owners will find it, if they are curious enough to research the vehicle history. However, that depends whether they know the original reg was 1664SR. Hopefully the moggie will still have some paperwork with it showing the original reg. If not, the current keeper would have to request the registration history from DVLA to find that out.
