Rat look truck

Saw this listed on that well known internet auction site earlier on. I'm really not sure what to think about this !

Re: Rat look truck
I find myself wondering what it might be used for as it seems a bit on the big side for a boat anchor.

I think someone is either having a laugh, taking the pi**, or has extremely bad taste......
If he's married I hope his wife has more sence than to let him loose on the home decor........
Best wishes,
Mike.

Re: Rat look truck
If they think it can go on the road, I think the person who did this is a complete and utter idiot.
It can never go on a public road because we have laws about spearing and shredding pedestrians.
What's the point in having a vehicle that can only be trailered somewhere for people to look (gawp) at?
The only use for it is at some sort of display site, never to move under it's own power.
it's a piece of 'art' and nothing more.
I've added a pic of it as this Topic won't make sense in a week or two when the ebay page is no longer available.
As the only part of it that is Minor is part of a bodyshell, I think he's pushing his luck with the V5C.

Re: Rat look truck
I can only guess that's where the inspiration came from, but how anyone expects something built from a Morris, ferguson tractor and god knows what else would ever get approval to be used on the road is beyond me.myoldjalopy wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:52 pm He he - looks like it came straight out of a Mad Max movie!!
I did like the 'stupid questions ignored'.... I am tempted. Does 'what the hell is this supposed to be ?' count as a stupid question ?

I think "Does it come with an MOT?" would qualify...............I did like the 'stupid questions ignored'.... I am tempted. Does 'what the hell is this supposed to be ?' count as a stupid question ?

Re: Rat look truck
This ‘stupid questions ignored’ thing, I feel it says something about a person, why do that. If you’re trying to sell something you have to face reality, some people may ask things that perhaps are silly etc but it comes with the territory. It ranks close to ‘no time wasters’ another, almost rude statement. I take that comment as —- if you don’t buy you’re wasting my time.

Re: Rat look truck
The only stupid question on this occasion would be "will you take cash?"

Re: Rat look truck
I have to agree with you Les, it's part of the selling process. I see lots of things relisted/readvertised repeatedly and it is always blamed on 'time wasters' rather than the seller consider that the item they wish to sell is over priced, badly described or generally just in a lot poorer condition than they have advertised !
My other favourite is "first to see will buy...."

Re: Rat look truck
I have disproved that on multiple occasions...
Other than the cab... how many parts are Morris Minor?
Ferguson 35 bonnet, rear wings and headlights
Chassis isn't
Axles arn't
Engine and gearbox arn't
So how can this be claimed to be a morris minor?

Re: Rat look truck
The claim to be a Minor? A few panels plus maybe the V5c from a scrap vehicle.
Given that split screen vans are pretty rare it would be interesting to see what year and body type are recorded on the V5c.

Re: Rat look truck
I agree, it's a stretch listing as a 'Modified Morris Minor' when it's only about 20% Minor. Looking closely at the photos it appears to be the front half cut off 4-door saloon, rather than a cab. Not that it makes much difference, as I can't see the DVLA ever accepting that thing as being a Minor. So having the V5c for the Minor is not much use either, and the seller doesn't appear to have any documents for all the other vehicles it's made up from. The seller is saying 'VERY LITTLE WORK TO FINISH'. Finish into what? Points system, Radically altered vehicle, IVA, etc. May get rather interesting
It looks like the result of locking the A-Team in a warehouse, with some old vehicles and a load of tools As a static movie or TV prop it's probably fine. Can't see health and safety allowing anyone to actually drive it though

This is a good project, but it will tough to restore it considering its look.geoberni wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:41 pm If they think it can go on the road, I think the person who did this is a complete and utter idiot.

Restore what exactly?
You'd have more chance restoring this...
