My ultimate upgrade

Post by Admin »

I did more than a decade with a 1098 before opting for a 1275 swap which I found a great upgrade. Some years after that, I wanted to go further and had my 1275 treated to a few more goodies and upped it to a 1330cc, which served me well for another 60k miles. The engine then sat for a number of years while other things went on, but it's now back yet again and had another upgrade to now 1380cc. There's not enough room between cylinders now to go much further, so hopefully I'll not get the urge to go yet higher!

You can go up to 1400cc provided you have had the bores off-set bored.
You can go to around 1600cc if you have the crank re-stroked.
So you have plenty of scope to go further. 8)
I have a nice 1400cc MG Midget block (with excellent 74mm bores) which was off-set bored by Oselli sat on the shelf. All I need to do is find a nice NOS set of Triumph Spitfire 1500cc Std pistons. The Triumph gudgen pins are the same size as the Cooper S so can be fitted to the spare set of Cooper S rods I have. There were originally Triumph pistons fitted to the block/Cooper rods by Oselli when first re-bored.

I'm sorry but this is pure engine porn and shouldn't be allowed. I get far to exited and might need resuscitation after witnessing this flagrant abuse of the forum rules. Who can I complain to, I need to know
I need to go and lie down now and have dreams of bores and pistons :o

Slap on a 'charger and you're sorted forever. 👍😊🚓🚓 (although better with the 1275 to help heat dispersion!)
