Emergency Spares Kit Competetion

Post by WebEditor »

Would anybody like to win a model MMOC van by taking a good photograph of the following for the forthcoming MMOC Handbook:

SPARES KIT

A full set of hoses
couple of jubilee clips
bypass hose
screwdrivers
spanners / sockets
pair of pliers
fanbelt
A set of bulbs
Torch
Wheelbrace
Correctly Inflated spare tyre
Jack
A short plank of wood
Coil
Points
Condenser
bit odd wire
Small test light
Sandpaper
Gaffer tape
electrical tap
spare gallon of water
gallon of petrol
oil
coins to ring the breakdown if your mobile don't work!

I'm going to need the photo before the end of the month, so please e-mail it to me asap. The first good and usable picture that comes to me will win a 1/43 scale model van, and receive credit in the yearbook, which is due for distribution to all MMOC members next year.

Darn - I was hoping for another one, but I can't find:
electrical tap

and as there's no brake fluid on the list I'm not sure I'd want to be credited. Also there's no spare spark plug or spare HT lead... (hmm -best I shut up and go to bed)
However if there's time left (probably not) I could get Eleanor to take the photo this weekend whilst I'm cursing the 54 in preparation for the blood-sweat-and-tears MOT failure next week.

What model is that? I may well have it - is it the Gaydon one?

While on models - Does any one know the cheapest source for the new Minichamps models? I'm wanting to get some for resale here in NZ? PM me if you can help.

Shouldn't that be "leak" for a fuel tank? :P

I know - one of them has a hole in it where I went wrong with an angle grinder (no, I don't remember quite how I managed it either...)
We could have a 'who can weld it up best' competition to decide the argument, survivor wins... I'll go first, if you like :D

It would be less of a danger if it did - but that's beside the point, that was the joke!

Well I guess none of you are budding David Bailys as I haven't had a single entry. So I'm closing the competition and putting the vans in my model display case in my office (makes childish nah nah ne nah nah noises)

Well, we ARE, but some of us are rushing to get an MoT in time for the website rally otherwise we would oblige!

Ask the owners of the garage queens or the cars with sills to take some piccies!

spares kit

Post by sixdogs »

Personaly, I never carry petrol in a can in a car. It will always leak no matter how good the can is and it can turn your car into a bomb in the event of an accident Better to pay up the 50 quid a year and be in a breakdown club. Anyway, it's always a good idea not to let the fuel tank get too low, especially on a long journey.

I've seen cars burst into flames when crashed and it's not a pretty site. For the same reason, I never drive along with the doors locked. It would be nice if all cars were diesel. I think if petrol were discovered today, it would be a banned substance.

Cheers, Clive.
