what's with the link?

And I suppose she'll have to be platinum grey then... anyone got any modern colour codes, so I can instruct my paintshop?

Onne

PS Wimor, I will ask Evert Spapé, do you happen to know if he also has the records for cars exported to Belgium? I think my car is a Belgium car, and imported to Holland in '79

I was wondering about the link myself... :-?

The ICI reference number for platinum Grey is: 0123

The MMOC list can be found here: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/technicaltips/colourcodes.htm

It's up to you which colour you paint her. Black is VERY nice on an early car, but so is platinum grey. It's that little more exclusive (and original) too! :D

I want her original. No question about. (unless my carpet s was the wrong colour..)

I did find the grey ayerto be the one on top of the red primer.
So I found
Blue
light blue
black
platinum grey
red primer.

No wonder it hasn't rusted through....

Is that paint code usable by ones average paintshop? Or should I just give them an area to colour code?

I don't know nowadays. It certainly used to be. Maybe Jonathon might be able to help there. The ICI code used to be a pretty common reference but a lot of people outside of the UK have had trouble at paint factors getting paint matched using ICI numbers.

When you remove all that paint I bet the car will go twice as fast!

Onne, I hope you have more luck finding the formula for Platinum Grey than I did a few years ago :-? .

Mine ended up Sierra beige which was the closest standard colour I could find at the time. It's a slightly darker than Platinum Grey.
Actually, looking at NWL & mine, it's a LOT darker  .

There was a request on here a few weeks back regarding Platinum Grey but there wasn't too much response.

I am still very much in doubt. thsi because I love black MMs, and I don't think the chrome looks as nice on a grey car.
so I am still thinking black. It's not going to be concourse anyway, that is still way beyond my league

Well from a female point of view  , much as I love black cars (I've had 2 myself) I really love the platinum grey. I can't remember ever seeing a car in that colour and I've been to loads of rallies.

There are lots of black cars around. If you want to be noticed and attract a lot of attention go for the grey

Oooh, female point of view. Important too. I know it is a rare colour these days, maybe because the people in the 70s found it a bit dull.
I wouldn't know, I wasn't born yet.

Well, I still have some time to decide. Maybe I'll throw in a poll, to help me out

My favourite colour for a Saloon ( after Traf blue, of course) is Dove Grey. I don't remember seeing a Platinum Grey one in the flesh, but I reckon it'd look great!

We even found a hazelnut in the A-post, I can't help but wonder how it got there...

The same squirrel that left a stash of them tucked neatly into the exhaust port of one of mine, depite the fact that there was a manifold and silencer on it :D
