Exhaust manifold for 1098

Postby mikeneale13 » Mon Jan 13, 2020 10:07 am

Hi there. I'm looking for an exhaust manifold in good condition for a standard 1098cc Minor engine. Would anyone have one for sale by any chance?
Thanks, Mike

Thanks Phil - I had done an E-bay search but didn't see this one - I think as I searched for exhaust manifold, and this didn't have 'exhaust' in it! I think I've actually since managed to find someone with one, however.

Ebay always seems expensive to me. A quick google search of the same item shows up manifolds at under half the price of that ebay one

There are several suitable manifolds for HS4 SU carbs but manifolds for HS2 SU carbs are thin on the ground. I have only found two on 'e' bay and one is in my link above.

Links to those half price manifolds for HS2 SU carbs would be appreciated.

Phil

I'm afraid my limited technical ability doesn't extend to me posting links Phil. However, if you type "Morris Minor exhaust manifold" into an ebay search, you will restrict yourself to exploring the generally overpriced items for sale on the single marketplace of ebay. If however you type "Morris Minor exhaust manifold" into a National or International search engine such as Google, that will find items for sale in vastly more sales outlets and often at more competitive prices. That is all I do and although I cannot now recall where they were for sale, I found the identical manifolds in a few minutes at under half the price of the ebay offering.

Whilst I may be looking in the wrong place - this is the only one I can find on Google at a lesser price than the one in my link above and that was originally for sale back in 2018.

Yes, that is the one I spotted too. As you seem doubtful about the validity, I made contact with them. They are Morris Minor specialists and advertise in Minor Matters. The listing IS current and they say that because the item is generic rather than specific, the listing hasn't been updated recently as they still have plenty available. The date displayed simply shows the last update - probably a price rise.
They are able to supply early (2 piece) and later (1 piece) manifolds and also one for the last built cars with a pcv attachment. All priced at £22.00 each. Until they look on ebay perhaps!

Thank you for going to the trouble of enquiring and obtaining a definite answer,
Phil

Hi,
I have used MinorParts of Oxford a couple of times before and always found them very polite and helpful, as well as being keenly priced.
So am happy to recommend them on here.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Thanks - well spotted. I have actually managed to source one, but this would have been suitable by the looks of it.
