Door hinge wanted

Postby kbonney88 » Sat Apr 25, 2020 11:03 am

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has a good "Drivers Side" lower front door hinge going spare?

I am doing the sills etc.. during this period of weirdness, and the lower hinge was found to be seized and snapped when the door was removed.

There is a guy on ebay listing a Near side which I think is a Drivers side, but he hasn't got back to me as of yet, hence my ad on here.

Anyway, If anyone has got one - Would you post and how much inc P&P?

Kindest regards, Kevin :)

Nearside means near the kerb which is the passenger side or left hand side
Drivers side is the offside or right hand side.

Did you get your Drivers side lower 2-door hinge?

I am likely to have one, and could post from Australia if you have had no other offers!

Send me a pic of the broken one and the Number or marking cast into it.

Thanks for the replies everyone.. again sorry for delay in replying, doing long hours on the car and just chilling afterwards...

Thanks for the offer Phil, and John - and here are a few pics of the hinge, the stamping on the "A-post" side of the hinge is NP13?

As far as 2 and 4 door "front" door hinges go, I am sure the front hinges are the same.

Be great if you have one, just let me know how much etc.. :)

I should finish off welding the wills today, then... finish repairing the A-post...

Byeee for now..

Kev :)

There is one on ebay if you cannot find one on here.

It looks like yours but is described as NS in the listing.

Hi,
I read that as 'NP13', the same as on the part that has snapped off on your one.
The other side reads 'NP14', if you remove the part still screwed to your door is there a stamp on the other side of it?
Best wishes,
Mike.

Hi Mike, so do I - was a typo.. corrected in my post now.. and yes, on the other side of the hinge on my door is NP14.
That was a palava getting that off...... grinding and mole grips after heat.... anyway - its off now.. door needs a repair now, but i will sort that in due course..

the pic below is the one I am waiting a response from, and has the right part numbers..

John.. That one in your pic looks right doesn't it? - but with different part numbers? MMmmmm.. Could it be off an early car? are the early hinges different? ..... puzzled now.

Kindest regards, Kevin

It may be me but I think the one in John's picture looks 'stumpier', I'd go for the one with matching part numbers to yours.

Perhaps someone will come along with more knowledge of individual hinges but I believe the ones for two door cars and four door cars were different. For one thing two door car doors are larger than the front doors on the four door models and therefore the hinges must carry more weight.
I know there can be an issue with the hinge pins wearing out but there are (or at least were) oversized ones available to replace them.
Best wishes,
Mike.

APA709 is the part number quoted in AKD3542 Body Service Parts List.
It shows the hinges as being the same on both 2 door and 4 door.

There are various different part numbers and casting numbers for the hinges. Earlier cars for example had slightly different hinges which didn't allow the doors to open as far. I would try to find a hinge with the same casting numbers as the one you have - and with as little wear as possible. That way, a direct swap should be relatively simple.

It shows the hinges as being the same on both 2 door and 4 door.
Fair enough. However it does go to underline why the two door had hinge pin wear over time, with the doors being wider and heavier.
