BW65 auto gearbox and torque converter wanted

Postby southerly95 » Thu Jul 30, 2020 10:37 pm

Following a leg amputation earlier this year I’m on the look out for a BW65 auto gearbox with fittings and torque converter with starter plate for our ‘65 convertible.

I’m fully aware of the technical and supply issues here but hopeful that some kind soul may be able to help.

Forever in anticipation 👍 thanks, John

Hi John,
Sorry to hear of the amputation.
There are a few out there, if I've found the right one that is.
Price is the thing it seems, they can cost rather a lot...................
Here's a few links:
Best wishes,
Mike.

Brilliant thanks for taking the trouble! I’ve found a Marina version on eBay item 264262641769. This has the correct bell housing but no tq conv but May be able to use one of those you selected plus a starter ring. I’ll contact them, thanks again, John

Good luck with your conversion John. :D
Take some pictures as you go and create a post, I'm sure people will be interested, especially if the Marina version is as good a fit as you think it will be.
I bet there are plenty on here with dodgy hips and / or knees.
The issue for many of them, I suspect, will be the desire to keep their cars looking at least nearly standard, or to do a conversion that looks as though it might simply have been a 'period' option.
So how you re-profile the gearbox tunnel cover will be one thing of interest, also the final pedal arrangement / where you source your pedal box.
One 'minor' ( ) issue at the end of the project will of course be where to source a fresh tunnel cover (carpet), without the cutout for the gearlever.
Let us know.
Best wishes,
Mike.

I shall be pleased when I get to the carpet stage I only finished replacing the last lot after a flood a couple of years ago 😀
