Internal door latch for 1969 2 door

Postby PhilAllen » Sat Dec 05, 2020 8:35 pm

I'm about to refit my doors following painting and discovered this afternoon I have a broken spring on the internal door mechanism on the driver's door - the part that the internal handle attaches to. The photo shows the bit I need along with the broken spring. I think just a spring would suffice if anyone has one. The parts suppliers don't seem to list them and I can't find any on eBay either. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

Phil
I had a look at the locks I have and all were either for 4dr/van or had the springs missing.

These springs are a common failure. They don;t stop the lock from working, but do allow it to rattle about a lot. This is one of those parts that just does not seem to be available anywhere and so would be ideal for the club to manufacture.

Bryan: Thanks very much for looking anyway.

simmitc: Thanks for the information. I was wondering what the effect of the broken spring would be. I couldn't see it stopping the lock working but it's nice to know for sure. I've made small coil springs occasionally to fix toys and the like but I think this type is beyond my amateur abilities!
