wiper box spacer

Postby Grumpy21 » Thu Oct 21, 2021 11:16 pm

is anyone breaking a minor please. I need a small and quite inconsequential part thats unavailable to buy new

its the little angled spacer that goes between the wiper box and the front scuttle, its a short tube about and inch long, 1/2 inch wide with one end angled to match the scuttle.

for some odd reason mine is missing and the wipers dont work as they should.

Thanks

Do you know if they are the same as MG Midgets and Sprites, they sound very similar?
As I have plenty of them and will gladly post you one.

I got the impression he was asking for the angled spacer BENEATH the scuttle which is not included in that kit?
Made of a black plastic material I think.
No doubt most Minor specialists DO have it but such parts are not always listed on their websites.

Many minors is indeed correct. I have the chrome bezels, fitting these has made me aware the one of the angled tube that goes under the scuttle is missing.

The part number of the part required is 37H5431 Bush - rear to body. New items seem to be currently unavailable from the usual suppliers.

The above are Mini but may be suitable for adaption.

The Mini ones are similar but a completely different angle and therefore not suitable.
Rather than pay £20-£30 for a whole wheelbox on ebay, I would have thought a piece of plastic (or rubber?) tube could be cut to do the job if you really cannot obtain the correct part

As the OP has an original outer bush with the correct angle which is the same as the inner bush the Mini bush can be cut to the right angle using the outer bush as the pattern.
The MG Midget/Sprite bush is Pt No: AHH5414 (MOSS) and looks long enough to be cut down to suit if required.

In which case there are several used ones on ebay eg

That’s the whole thing. I only need the small part between the wiper box and the chrome bezel.

Yes but they are so cheap why worry?

If you are a Tight Wad like me... :D :D :D

Someone on here will buy the wheelboxes off you I'm sure

You can carve your own wooden ones from an old broom handle

You can probably use a spare chrome outer one..upside down

Pleased to report that tucked away in one of my junk boxes was an old one from either an MGB or mini.

Fitted and working perfectly

Cheers all
