My colour coded wiring chart

Post by badfelafel »

I made a little colour coded wiring diagram for my minor, by using an old manual I found and rearranging it all so the wires didnt cross over each other all over the place! I've tried very hard to arrange it logically...

Not certain its 100% accurate - so happy for comments. Plus theres a couple of bits that I couldnt decode :(

And turn off inline spelling and grammar checking :-)

Seriously, that would be a great help (my car is the same year as yours). Can you make it generally available? It's the sort of thing that should go in the club repository of useful documents.

I could copy it into the wiki if you have no objections?

diagram

Post by Willie »

The only problem I can see so far is that the brown lead which feeds the
'always live' circuits is shown as emerging from the starter solonoid(or pull
switch on the earlier models) after having passed through it. This is incorrect as it should be drawn as connected to the battery supply side. You have also
marked the indicators as all being r for right hand?

I was puzzled about the brown lead - my wiring diagram definitely shows it coming from the solenoid and not the battery!

The indicators are shown on 2 circuits, with Fr (Front) and Rr (Rear) for each!

Happy for the diagram to be shared, copied etc... will try to update it a bit if I get the chance.

Thanks for your comments!

Yes - it comes from the live side of the solenoid - which of course is firmly connected to the battery +ve - so both are correct! Good idea to simplify it like that Barry - your computer skills will be wasted doing Law!!

Diagram

Post by Willie »

remove your brown wire from the left hand side of the solonoid and fit it
to the right hand side. If you swing it up and over you will not have to cross
any other leads on your excellent diagram. The Brown lead does come from
the solonoid but is connected directly to the same terminal as the battery lead. This brown lead supplies the WHOLE CAR except for the starter motor.
The indicator lamps should be marked front and rear right and front and rear
left.

Ok - revised one coming :)
A couple of questions...
Is it worth having a couple of wires crossing over to show the wires from the control box in the right order??
And.. on the indicators, which is left and which is right!
Will stick up revised diagram soon
:)
Cheers all!!!
