I know indicators cant overheat but...

... just got back from the MOT and on the way there my indicators stopped working, They are a bit sticky so the self cancelling isnt working yet. Once they had had some time to rest they worked again beautifully.
I have the flashing side and brake light arrangement, and thus the 8 way relay.
Can somthing in this overheat? the relay? the flasher its self?

Could have been a faulty earth... I'm not experienced with the relay, I'm afraid, so someone else will have to comment!

thats what im thinking but its an incentive to remember to remember to cancel them, while the self cancelling is sticky

I had that kind of incentive for a period- mine smoked when you didn't cancel them. Solved that one pretty quickly though!

It was a pair of wires mixed up by (presumably) the last owners... Same with the wiper unit, though it took a little longer to notice that smoking because of its position...
