Test of picute upload & distributor cap indentification

Post by MikeNash »

Greetings Comrades!
I've found this uplaod thingy on the bottom of the page and am going to try it. But I can't say I understand the instructions, so in case it all goes BANG I'm trying it out down here at the bottom of the page where few people would get hurt. Stand clear! MikeN.
Image
I was going to put this in the Lecky Section but as its here can anyone identify the two dist. caps? I'm running with the one on the right where the leads are locked in with little ascrews. Regards, MikeN.

Thanks Lou!
For others, Lou's taken it from "Problems" (hence ref to "bottom of the page") where I did it 'cos there you can make fool of yourself quietly. But its a great bitr of kit, isn't it? MikeN.

The RH cap is the old original style - the LH cap is the newer type - takes standard plug-in HT leads. In reality was never fitted to Minors as standard - but obviously easier to make/cheaper etc etc.

Yes Roy, my original was the right hand one but it grew a crack which caused miss firing in the rain, but when I ordered a replacement I was sent the LH one. But the HT leads didn't fit well and needed tape to hold them in, which of course, allowed them to fall out at inopportune moments. Luckily I bought another RH one at the National (For only £1! Glad I went!).
But can you tell their type name or peart number for future ref?
Regards, MikeN.

I'm amazed it worked at all - held in with tape !
Sorry - I don't do part numbers for stuff like that! But I would say - buy all you can of the early ones at £1 - they usually fetch 10X that!

Go to ESM's online catalogue and put "distributor cap" into the search box. It will bring up both types (and a couple of others too).

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
