headlamp issue

Post by moggiethouable »

I appear to have a Dicky headlamp.
This is an intermittent fault, having fitted a new o.s. lamp it seems to just glow partially, while the near side lamp glows superbly, both are standard lamps, i.e. not halogen, full beam dosesnt work on that o.s. lamp either.
Is it just a bad connection? i.e. earth, has anyone had the same issue please?
Thanks.
Dick.

Yep, I have had the same problem and traced it to a bad earth, also check all the bullet connectors for a poor connection as it could be that the wire into the bullet connector is hanging on by a couple of strands of wire.

Aye, earths. Tap it a few times and see if that makes a difference.

I had one like that only yesterday (cue earworm). The problem was on the inner wing / flitch panel where there is a socket bolted on into which the bullet connector for the earth was plugged. The socket had become brittle and lost its spring, thus not making contact with the bullet terminal. The poor connection could, of course, be anywhere.
