Indicators...

Post by Welung666 »

... You've all seen the pic...

Image

...I'm absolutely baffled how they have been wired!!!

OK I'll explain..

1) rear lights are same as the later 1098's (dual colour red/orange)

2) front orange add-ons flash as front signals until...

3) sidelights switched on! Both orange and sidelights flash together!

4) strange looking flasher (I think it is anyway) screwed to the offside front inner wing right at the front and wired into existing wiring by pushing bare wires inside the spade connectors and pushed on!

I'll try and get a pic but I need to get a new camera first :P

Any suggestions on this would be greatfully received :D

side lights

Post by Willie »

Hum.....Has the mystery box on the wing got 8 terminals??
1.take it one step at a time....The live feed to your side lights
should come from terminal A1 on the bulkhead mounted Control
Box, on a BROWN wire with Blue stripe. This arrives at the
lighting switch and when the sidelights are 'on' emerges on RED
leads, one to feed the fronts and one to feed the rears. There should
be NO interconnections with the GREEN wires which feed the
indicator bulbs.
Check this lot first as it is quite straightforward.

Strange looking flasher...? Not a huge Lucas 8-way relay? Sounds very much as though you could just take the orange flashers off and revert to the winking sidelamps.

The rears shouldn't be difficult to change, either... :)
Happy Minoring!

They are still there, just small holes so left them for the moment.

I will be replacing the front panel at some point because it's all corroded along the bottom.
