HEADLAMP KEEPS GOING

Post by raseys »

HI,
THE N/S HIGH BEAN HEAD LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON MY CAR. IT WENT ONCE ON THE OLD SEAL BEAM SO I CHANGED BOTH LIGHTS TO HALOGEN BULB ONES AND NOW THE HIGH BEAM HAS GONE ON THE N/S AGAIN. O/S AND N/S STILL WORK ON DIP BEAM AND ONLY O/S ON HIGH BEAM. ANY IDEAS WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS. CURRENT NOT WITH THE VEHICLE SO WILL BE CARRYING OUT IDEAS WHEN I AM AT THE WEEKEND.

THANKS
SETH

Drive further away from the kerb? The near side always gets more potholes, drains, etc to contend with.

Definitely blown bulbs...? Not a loose or corroded connection by any chance is it?

PB could well be right . Had a similar problem and ultimately traced it to a corroded Lucas bullet connector on the inside of the engine compartment , near side , where the loom connects to the headlamp wiring .

Mine occasionally does the same, the near side stops working due to a stuck connector in the foot operated dip switch. I normally park in front of the garage door so that I can see the light beams and keep operating the dip switch for a few minutes, it will then work fine for 12 months. I think that this happens due to the fact that I never drive the car at night so the main beam is only used for the mot.
