Garage door roller flat spot

Post by StillGotMy1stCar »

Garage door rollers. You can make them round again.
Not much happening in this Tips section so I thought I’d add this.
I picked up an old garage door for free, was advertised as scrap.
It’s too wide for the intended gap so I’m cutting it down to size.
In doing so I’ve found one of the nylon rollers has a flat spot, looking online I’ve not been able to find a replacement.
This gave me no choice but to repair the offending flat spot.
I decided the best option was to build it back up with Nylon melted into the flat spot with a soldering iron.
I thought for a while and come up with Nylon Strimmer cord as a suitable filler.
I filled the flat successfully then sanded back to shape with my dremel on slow speed.
The finished result isn’t pretty but is functional.
If it fails again I will do an update.
Regards John

Sorry just read the purpose of “Useful Tips”, obviously it is easier to maintain your Minor if you can open your garage door.
