Ignore me, i am a pillock and put the wrong reg in, mine is CAS486, halfwit mode today!!!! it was just worrying as previously I had entered VOM138J which is a Land Rover, but RAC have no record of it.

65 LDT one of my cars which is taxed, tested and has been in continuous everyday use for years is not listed on the RAC site. Obviously 'less than perfect' on attention to detail!

hardly any 5 or 6 digit plates are on there.... I am sure their database programmer who didn't allow to enter the early manufacture dates in the system has been sworn at many times!
He probably though 'who on earth still uses pre 70's cars... hmmm nobody'

Ray, I used to own cherished plates JA 30 and JA 787 and both these are shown with subsequent owners so it does not look a definite policy for them to not show 'early' numbers.

I don't see any policy either, but I suspect they realised the error after putting all the info in the system, therefore old cars only get added now when the car ownership is tranferred...
Private plates on modern cars seem to be there much more than original plates on old cars.
I still find it amusing to check on peoples cars - seeing when they bought it etc..

http://www.rac.co.uk/myrac/vehicle_data_check/
it is extremely basic info, unlike the full check.
£38 is a lot - I'm in the AA so they do a full history search for £25

I wonder how long it takes for the RAC to get their information updated as i bought my land rover at the beggining of feb and have one of those new fangled V5C's as there called now, but no info on RAC yet. My Morris is on there, but I havent registered it yet.

When I typed in the reg of my fathers Rover, I got this:

Manufacturer: Rover (which is correct)
Model: 218 SD TURBO (spot on!)
Body type: 5 door hatchback (now it gets wierd! It's actually a saloon)
Colour: (none stated!)
Fuel type: Heavy oil (what the hell does "heavy oil" mean??? Deisel I guess - deisel I hope!)

It was made in '94 nd so not majorly old at all!
Boris: 1968 2-Door Saloon

Yes, it's spot on with my Rover too (1997). And yes, heavy oil does mean diesel.
