Adderley Park Travellers

Post by POMMReg »

As Adderley Park built LCV change points have been done, 'tis time
to tackle Travellers.

Primerily, is there a chassis number quoted for start of steering
locks?

If you own one, would you please let me know chassis, body & engine
number, along with details of dash layout - plug or blank - and
colour of engine/date of registration.

Don't need owner details nor cars regn. number.

Thanks

MINOReg

Hi Chris
I have just bought a fairly early Glacier White Adderley Park traveller.
Chassis MAW5D 1290861F, Body number looks like Z36054 218366.
Has a 1275 engine, so no chance of engine colour info, and no steering lock is fitted.
Registered 1/9/71. As it is a Brummie area reg number, could it have been a factory car, demo, test car, etc?

Pomm

Have you still not got a parts list!

Page MJ4/MJ5 steering lock when fitted from maw5 990290 onwards ie it was available on all series 5 travellers it dosent say when they were fitted as standard to all though...

But your question is when did they start and the answer is from 990290... if one was fitted

Thanks John, a late 1290xxx with a 2183xx is spot on - suprisingly conscutive after 8/70 - engine number would have been in the early 70000s(?).

Rob.Thomasson gave me a S111 BSPL book - don't believe neither MM/S11 nor the purely 1098cc editions exist!

BL AddPk Traveller saga is the reason for the "Dating Booklet" being put on hold - pointless expecting people to buy reference material that contains vague info - if I cannot provide a chassis number for the first black engine, (have done for LCVs), as a "number cruncher", it's a major fail for me!
I DO know some 1292700s had black engines and Neiman S/L's - getting folks to divulge info is a battle at the best of times - but with less than 10k AddPk's built, even worse!
Persistence is the key to research - not continual copying seen in current publications - confident I WILL find the answer, but probably many years down the line!

Footnote to this is whatever Adderley Park built Minor you chance upon - whether deserted in the middle of nowhere or being scrapped - PLEASE make a note of ALL it's number details and send them to me.

Once the vehicle has gone, the information to be learned from it has too!

Thanks

When Chris has the numbers, please let me know if you have an Adderley Park built Traveller in any condition to dispose of.

Like the Civilian LCV, were there ANY Travellers produced WITHOUT a hole between the wiper & light switches?

PO vans had the cargo light in the middle, indicator "stalks" etc hence light in speedo.

Any info greatly appreciated!

Was there a clear-cut switch from Cowley to Adderley Park production?

Have some Traveller's with "M" vin suffixes after the accepted transfer point.

HELP!

Believe I've found - near as damn it anyway - the change to black engine, need to "fine tune" to make sure(ish) I'm
correct.

Therefore, anyone owning a 1971 Traveller - vin/body number 1293xxx/219xxx-22xxxx - please get in touch quoting the vehicles' details.

Surely MMOC can help you with their info that you will be getting access to?

Like the LCV Club, the MMOC don't record body/cab numbers - essential on AddPk built Minor's - using the "records destroyed" excuse is,to my mind, lazy.

Another query to investigate....never a dull moment here..

For the "Where was my Vehicle built" section...

The age old accepted chassis change point from Cowley to AddPk is well known, however, info I have suggests some were "part?" built at Cowley - designated AddPk at source - and finished at AddPk....if that makes sense?!!

Any ideas please?
