836 UMB - What colour was it originally

Post by MsRose »

I've just purchased the above moggie. It's currently red, but not original. Can anyone tell me if I can find out what colour it should be please?

Best thing is look in obscure areas of the car that could still have the original colour showing, even behind brackets. So, take off a small item that might not be take off if the shell was resprayed. Odd brackets under the bonnet, look behind the dash/speedo area, rear side panels, anywhere that might not have been disturbed to paint it.
The heritage certificate will tell you what colour it was when it left the factory, but that cert costs £42, and takes time to arrive.
Good luck!

Try behind the glove boxes looking towards the speedo - this area doesn't usually get resprayed.
