A character - Yes.
Knowledge - Massive.
Always helpful - if at times a bit prickly in its delivery - but that was Roy.
Will he be missed - Yes massively and by Many.

Biggest loss this year, did David Bowie & Prince have "Secret Switches"?!!
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Very sad news.

The club will be contacting Roy's family to both pass on condolences and to recognise Roy's incredible and prolific contribution to the messageboard over many years.

Very, very sad to hear this, he was always a great help. Could Roy's signature be added to the front page of this site in memory?? :( :(

I believe for a start it would be fitting if a new rank was created for prolific posters that honours what a great and knowledgeable forum poster he was. Thank you for all the advice and help, rest in peace.

Oh dear, that is sad news. The forum will never be quite the same again. He was very kind and helpful to me in a moment of mechanical crisis once.

I've been off the board for a little while, so finding this thread has been a tremendous shock.
I never met Roy, but had very helpful responses to problems I had posted up in the past, including one about "it was the coil" on the way to my first National - turned out, in the end, that it wasn't - disturbing the wiring loom whilst fitting a replacement "fixed" the problem, only to return a couple of weeks later - loom problems now fixed.

R.I.P. Roy and thanks for all the advice - Deepest Sympathies to his family.

George.
