Re: Passenger door key locks
Late 1963 I think. I could find a chassis number if that is important to you. This change only applied to the 2door models. My late 4door doesn't have a key for the passenger side.

thanks, numbers would be good. So it was 2 door and travellers only then?ManyMinors wrote:Late 1963 I think. I could find a chassis number if that is important to you. This change only applied to the 2door models. My late 4door doesn't have a key for the passenger side.
I had a look on Potteries page but nothing there. Is there somewhere else that I can find this type of info; ie: production / manufacturing changes?
cheers

Re: Passenger door key locks
Ray Newell's 'Original Morris Minor ' is probably your best bet.
On page 95 he says that external key locks were fitted to 2doors (car no.1039564onwards), travs(1040520) and convertibles(1043271) from Sept/Oct 1963.

The best book is the original BMC parts book - but that is probably where Mr Newell copied his information from anyway

The book I have - the "Body service parts list" is AKD 3542. Mine is dated 1966. I also have the Mechanical service parts list which is AKD 3541.

Re: Passenger door key locks
There was a special handle with lock included for the export 4 doors and commercials. (mirror image of the RH door) Don't know when they first appeared, presumably around the same time as 2 doors locks...
cheers

Re: Passenger door key locks
Thanks for the info Iain
I wasn't aware that LCV and 4 doors had them as well.
That will help those in the US so they can lock "their" drivers door
