Military Minor Traveller

Post by philthehill »

When I worked at HQ Eng Res Wksp REME. Long Marston (1974/84) the staff car for a time was a Morris 1000 traveller (1098cc). The previous car being a Hillman Huskey estate The traveller was so well looked after by the two drivers. Washed and polished nearly every day. We maintained other minors as well and had a superb stock of new parts and all the special tools that you could ever need. Come the day it was to be replaced by a Ford Escort estate it was lovingly cleaned and polished before being sadley sent on its way to Ruddington. It was in superb condition at that time as all military vehicles were. As the Minor was going out of service all of the spares and tools went as well. I often wonder if the car is still out there. If anyone has knowledge of the car I would love to hear from them. The MOD vehicle record sheet would indicate if it had served at Long Marston.
