No compression on 3/4 cylinders

As some of you know for the last little while Duncan has been a bit difficult to start...But I got him going after towing him yesterday. Today we went for his service and MOT...but after a very pleasant 20 mile drive he lost power and stopped only metres from the garage. The garage towed him. He has no compression on 3/4 cylinders, which implies either the valves, head gasket or pistons.
Can anybody offer any advice...club spares list some items but not all...How easy would it be to get spares...and what sort of price are we talking about...

Scottishmoggy, I have a couple of spare leaded heads in my garage in luton if it's the valves.

I think being in the Series MM section it is probably a sidevalve that we are talking about here?

I haven't much experience on the older engines, but a 1098 is 95% certain that the head hgasket has gone between 3 & 4. I've found that it's a common problem accompanied by a loss of power and lots of noise. Contrary to commonly listed symptoms, the oil and water are never contaminated as the gasket maintains the seal around the various channels.

Gaskets and all you need to do a change is available from the suppliers.

Thanks for your help...I am going to the garage in the morning...I pretty certain there is a gasket in the boot...let's hope it's the right one...

Yep, happened to me....gasket renewal and on the road again !! Don't worry (I did )

There's sidevalve 918cc head gasket set on ebay at the moment, at a good price, ends tonight, maybe worth a bid.
