I'll try to find out. It isn't in the bottom of the engine is it? Or behind a valve spring pedastal?

No, we had them all out safely but the open box fell off the washing machine, schoolboy error!! And they're so tiny and easy to lose. 7 valves refitted, 1 left to go. Help!!

Have you tried dimming the lights and pointing a torch flat on the floor? That sometimes helps to show up tiny lost objects by making them cast a long shadow.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Try running a magnet around the floor or sweeping the floor and examining the bits

All great ideas, my wife found one in the fluff from the tumble dryer, but still one missing. I will ask her to keep searching which is not so easy when it is my car and I am in Hong Kong. I'll be home in 2 weeks and hoping to get the engine purring :)

Q. Are these colletts the same across all moggy engines? Someone asked me the question in the 'wanted' section about A-frame engines colletts?
Image
I don't think that they are the same as A series collets. I suppose that as a last resort you can have one made but it would be expensive.
Meanwhile keep trying with the magnet.
