Mainshaft Bush - series MM Gearbox

Post by oliver-morrisminor »

Hi can anybody tell us if this Mainshaft Bush is available in the UK?

It is made from Brass.

It is listed as part 38 in the workshop manual we have.

I will contact John Evans who rebuilds gearboxes (advertised in Minor Matters) and try to find out. Is it a one off or are you after a quantity?
Image
I spoke to John a while ago about rebuilding these boxes, and while he does have some spares this particular item he has made as required. Quite costly he inferred as the time consuming part is the spline within which obviously needs broaching.
Has yours fell into 3 parts upon dismantling?

Mike, I would be interested in a dozen if the price was OK. I have had these repaired in the past, don't know the welding process used but looked like easi-flo or similar

In a spare moment I took the top off my 'spare' gearbox and low and behold on the bush and easily visible are the marks:-
BH 31029 and G (in a circle)
Not sure if thisis much use to anyone?
My spare box is number 83988 with an aluminium disc rivited on with Type 31202 and the number 112703 stamped in it.

Hello all. Did anyone have any luck locating the main shaft bush? I am also searching for one. Would be very grateful for any information or contact details for anyone who might be able to assist.

Thank you and kind regards.

Sam
