Hello,
Can anyone responsible for membership renewal help me in providing the username and password from the july/august 2016.
PM me the details.
Alternatively have sent an email to LIZ SAXON requesting the same.

Any other methods to renew membership ??

hi,

After getting spark plug cables from a friend of mine.
1. These are ignition set cables meant for old GMC vehicles 6 or 8 cylinders.
2. quality looks good neatly crimped etc.
3. Both ends of cables have boot protectors/guards.
4. i can make 3 sets from these cables.

Now the question the cable core looks as the picture ( from internet/web) below and seems its distributed resistance wires made with a fiberglass core that’s impregnated with carbon and surrounded with silicone insulation.[frame]Image[/frame]

will this work for my side valve head ignition system ? with DKYH4A distributor.

thanks

Hi
What is the outside diameter of the cable?

Should be OK but as they are resistor type of leads make sure the plug caps and plugs themselves are not resistor type or you will have too much in the HT circuit. Spark plugs have usually got a "R" in the part code to donate if resistor type.

Hi,
The cables i got new do not have resistors. I will have to check whether anything as such is mentioned in spark plugs that i have been using.
The present HT wires that i have are of copper core/wire, without resistors and the end connectors are very loose and do not hold well on the spark plug.
I have put separate plastic sleeves as the voltage used to jump out due to weak insulation.

I am not saying the cables have got resistors on them I am saying the cable core is of a resistor type, impregnated carbon core.

It says "Suppressor" on the cable to indicate it has resistance inside the carbon core, maybe 10,000 ohms per metre. Copper has no resistance. Ideal is 5,000 ohms, so...

1. Copper leads, copper plug connectors and resistor plugs.
2. Suppressed leads, copper connectors and non-resistive plugs.
3. Copper leads, resistor-type plug caps and non-resistor plugs.

Hi Guys
The reason I asked for the diameter of his leads was because later suppressor cable is usually 8 mm. dia. and will not fit a DKYH4A side entry cap. They will only accept 7 mm. dia. leads.

Hi Guys,
Fixed the cables. Was getting high value above 50000 ohms so had to change some thing....
got 0.8mm/0.0315 inches thick copper plates and made rings for the gripping on cable and proper contact inside the cap. other side have got its original connectors. Now the value on all 5 cables is approx 3500 - 5000 ohms.
See pictures below.

Thanks for your feedback.
Will update soon.

Hi Guys
There is an old saying 'there is more than one way to skin a cat'. I was not aware that it applied to HT leads!

Hi,

Mr Bryan doesn't seem to have the front suspension service kit.
Kindly let me know from where can i get them or any manual with pictures would help me get it serviced locally or do it myself here in india.

What is the approximate resistance(Ohms) of the petrol tank float when at full tank and at low level. Have got a float locally with its meter. But i have the original meter in place , the reading is incorrect.

165/80 R14 are easily available can i put them to my low light minor.

Please advice.

The car Rim size is 14inch dia and the width is 4 1/4 inches. have a marking "LP555" inner side of the disc/rim and PAT No 56866

What about the tire size 155/70 R14, these are available here in india.

I have Continentials in that size fitted to my blue minor which is my everyday car. They fit the rim OK and give good grip but the tyre is too low profile and people always say to me that they look like they are almost flat. Ive also found the these continentials seem to wear very down quickly, perhaps they were designed for something lighter than the minor.

Hi,
Thanks Mr David... means i can go ahead with the 165/80 R14 tires.
I will be making approx 20 miles per week or say 60 miles per month, unless i decide to go for a long drive..

Anybody having information on servicing details of the front suspensions ?
