I found this note by Mike and was amused by the observation that 'This colour was discontinued due to problems with fading.' How true! When my MM Tourer was traded in for a newer machine around 1977-78, in one of my family's garages, it was painted in a kind of sordid matt pink that everybody thought disgusting to say the least. This colour, and the fact that the MM had no heater and no possibility to fit one (no water pump, of course) saved her from being bought by someone else. I was the only one willing to restore her (it was 1978, remember) so I more or less got her for free. Then forgot her for 30+ years, but that's another story.

Not having much documentation at the time, and not knowing of the possibility that the car had been painted maroon and then faded, somebody hastily decided to respray her black, and this has survived very well until now, so much that I have restored her without having to respray anything. Sure, one day she will return to her original Maroon.... not that nauseous pale matt pink! :D

Cheers

Hi Stephano,
Maroon is now a very popular Morris Minor colour and fading does not seem to be a problem

Hello all. I haven't been around for a long time. My MM series was resting in the garage for the last 3-4 years when I decided to fix it again and start moving it. I took it to an old mechanic and fixed all of it's problem... Actually there were 2-3 problems only.
Last weekend my two friends came by and we washed it and rubbing it with compound and wax for 5.5 hours. We were not expecting to shine because of the bad faded paint. But to our surprise we were amazed with the outcome.
Now i have to fix the wipers and the windscreen water jet and then off to the MOT and to the road transport department to re-register it. I'm attaching a few photos of last weekends project. You can see the before and after.[frame]Image[/frame]
