Re: tourer for sale on car and classic
That seems a bit rich....... A 49 should have removable side screens not fixed windows shouldnt it?
Too many Minors so little time.....
Re: tourer for sale on car and classic
Yes, David, it should have the removable side screens - according to the data these changed to fixed side screens in June 1951. Nice project though but VERY expensive.
Re: tourer for sale on car and classic
Yes Frank if it IS a 51 it would have highlight front wings which were introduced in January '51. My guess (without seeing the chassis number) would be that it is a 49 but that someone has fitted the later fixed side screen. Alternatively it COULD be a 51 that has had the earlier front wings and grille fitted. It does have the early dash insert (without the ashtray) and has the short (early) bonnet so would be tempted to favour the 49 with later side screens Maybe Mike Perry knows more about the car as it does claim to have some MMOC verification of its age/originality?

What ever it is ,it is certainly rather expensive in that condition. Would be cheaper to buy one in Australia and ship back !!

Re: tourer for sale on car and classic
It's an original 49 tourer, with original no plate as she left the factory, she is most definately not a converted saloon...I have also been advised to get a heritage certificate from gaydon,so am awaiting that also.
She may look untidy but for a 49 morris I would say she is better than most 70 s morris, due to being kept inside since 77...I will be moving her to a friends barn for longer term storage soon so will get some pics...regards...

Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Certainly well worth saving - not too many of these early tourers come up these days good luck with the restoration and yes - please post plenty of resto pics for us all to marvel over

Re: tourer for sale on car and classic
The chassis no is Autumn 49. There are very few early tourers surviving in this country, no 48s and no 49s until mid year

Re: tourer for sale on car and classic
As others have said above regarding the side screens, I have seen early tourers with home made replacement perspex side screens; made when the originals expired. That wouldn't put me off, but missing split bumpers and the price is.
Nice 'period' padded dashboard.

Busy collecting parts for my '52 MM Convertible and 1949 Saloon restorations. :o
