NEW MM ENGINE PARTS

Post by sparesman »

The club has just been offered a very large quantity of ex army stock MM engine parts plus some reconditioned and used engines.Unfortunately they are in Australia so it is not an easy job to get hold of them.
Before we talk to the seller we need to get an idea of the likely demand for such parts.
If you own an MM and would like to purchase most of the parts needed to rebuild your engine, even if you dont plan to do so for 10 years, then please contact me to express your interest.
This is a one off opportunity to acquire new MM engine parts. It is unlikely to be repeated.

Bryan,
Did you really only join the Messageboard (as Sparesman) 2 years ago yesterday?
I have an MM and should register my interest in engine parts.
Merry Christmas, George.

I am interested in a reconditioned 1098 A series engine. Or the name of an engineer to rebuild my engine for me for a reasonable price. Thx.

Roving Rose - MM engine parts means Series MM 918cc Side-valve engine parts. "A" series 1098cc engines are Morris Minor series V (five) parts (Series MM = 1st type, followed by Series II (803cc engines), then Series III (948cc "A" type engines), then Series IV (four) Morris Minor Mini, then Series V (five) 1098cc.

Bryan.

I have 4 engines here and the parts I can foresee needing in the next 10 years are...
Camshaft +followers
Valves + springs
Pistons (+ sleeves if std size) and rings
Studs for head and manifolds
Main and big end bearings.

On a list of things that would be 'nice to have on the shelf' are USHM3 blocks/cranks and the ring gears for starters if they are the car version and not the tank version.

I hope this helps.

The car ring gear is 102T, generator and other ring gear is 80T
Note generator engine has a different crank with a rear seal and no scroll therefore the block and crank cannot be mixed.
I expect that I will need a new engine in 10 years
Gearboxes and back axles would be useful

That's not necessarily a bad thing. I had the scroll machined off my crankshaft so I could fit a rear main seal.

I assume these are the engines here:

When I look to this Australian Ebay engines, it looks like the housing for the flywheel is smaller, or do I have it wrong?
