Another Barn find 1950 MM, but restorable or not?

Post by TvdWerf »

I found this one, short bonnet, this Wednesday I try to look better.[frame]Image[/frame]
Engine is there, grille should be somewhere, but parts are missing.[frame]Image[/frame]
The man bought him for the parts, but is now cleaning.
What should be a reasonable price for this MM?
Is it interesting to buy for the parts, or make a running car from it?
Or just put him in a corner on my property with a cover, to wait for the time machine ;)

Bodywork looks good from that angle, but didn't know they did a transverse engine in a Minor. Unusual routing of the exhaust too

Got him ;)
the first parts are loaded in the Prius, engine was turning, a new box with old pistons are there, and it looks like the engine did not run after a piston change.
Radiator okay, and surprise, the grille:[frame]Image[/frame]
The chrome one for the highlight, not perfect, but also not rusted and complete ;)
2 new rear wings, the chrome list for the front window, complete and not damaged [frame]Image[/frame]
The original high cut wings were also there, and in an aceptable condition for repair...
And for Mike the chassis no:[frame]Image[/frame]

And the other surprise: Matching numbers, clean oil, and a year when the spare wings are produced: 1986
From that moment the car was waiting in a barn.[frame]Image[/frame]

How to recognize?
At the moment I am to far away from the car, so next week I hope to know more.
I only know the papers and licence number, it is a used car import number, so with the LHD it can be build everywhere.
In the Netherlands they got a mark, which is not on this car.

You can recognize a CKD on the welding strip on the bulkhead (engine compartment side)

No holes for the rear bumper, so this was one for the first two piece bumpers?[frame]Image[/frame]
This is not the original grille, that one I will use for my '51 MM[frame]Image[/frame]
Floor not rotten, so an acceptable base I think.[frame]Image[/frame]
Doors OK, only the left side chassis needs some welding.
The cat eye headlights are save on my workbench.

Now the time machine.
Or someone with more time ;)
