windscreen rubbers splitscreen

Post by TvdWerf »

Who knows more about the windscreen rubbers from New Zealand?
http://www.basisnz.co.nz/Products/Windo ... -408).aspx
the rubbers who I bought don't have a nice fitting.
Someone told me this one should have a good fitting but are they from new Zealand, or made in the UK?

The link is no better, is (218-408) the part number?
The search on the site can't find it.

I saw what is went wrong, on the site the link is shorter because of the software on the site.
Try it on this way:
http://www.basisnz.co.nz/Products/Window-rubber-seals/
Windscreen-seal/SEAL-(218-408).aspx

Cut it in 2 parts, put the both in the bar and okay.

That worked.
Coopying the link and using the URL tags gives the whole thing;

I am investigating a source who have been manufacturing MM screen rubbers for 50 years and supplied the club in the early days of the club.

A UK guy had a length of the '48/early '49 rubber made around 10 years (maybe more) ago. I'm sure some ended up in NZ.
I can't remember his name though (Frank?) but I'm sure he was in the MMOC & was restoring a '48.

That's correct Scott, the owner of MPJ 584 used the remains on my MM as a template for the length of rubber moulding he had made up. The windscreen surround on the very early cars have a thinner exterior chrome strip and brown hidem banding (is that how it's pronounced?) on the inside. Not sure how much was made but it's been fitted to my car (only new thing on it!) and MPJ.

Thanks OHP. I supplied him a couple of chrome joiners in exchange for a length of the rubber seal he had made.

Frank Mcdonagh is the chap who had the early rubber made. I think he may have one or two lengths left. If you email me I will pass it on to him
bryan.gostling@mmoc.org.uk

Have sent off a sample of the later MM/S11 rubber to get a quote to have a reel made.

Hi Brian,
Frank was kind enough to get in contact via PM after my post. I'd lost touch with him after leaving my workplace a few years ago so it was good to catch up with him again.
