Front screen glass spec

Post by RobThomas »

Have asked someone to manufacture me some new front screen glass for our MMs since they are all scratched. Does anyone have the specification of the glass? Were they all Toughened or was Laminated an option? What thickness?

They have offered to have the screens made up with heating elements in them to counteract the "Low Drag Refrigerator" character of the car. Nice to be able to demist the Lowlight in winter.

Top spec tinted screen s for later Minors with heating and see-through panels are about £350 so flat MM ones should be a lot cheaper.

I've only fitted toughened glass to split screens as the laminated glass doesn't take kindly to being forced and prodded in order to fit. Replacement glass was 6mm thick as opposed to 5mm original though, so was an even tighter fit :D

Thanks for that, Chris. Was it the correct thickness? I keep hearing that it doesn't like to go into the original rubbers if it is the more common 6mm glass.
