Hi Folks,
Need some assistance on the above topic,
My 1952 series mm has a heater & I'm looking for an interim bottom hose to use while I try & get the proper item in brass made up,
Can anyone advise me of a suitable alternative

My MM is equipped with heater and I couldn't get hold of hoses and in the end found a hose that fitted a treat, without the brass tube (less joints as well!)
It was a hose used for a different application, ford I think? I can remember posting on here how successful it was so that others could benefit.
But, I can't find the post! Would have been a few years ago.
Will try and find it, again!

Thanks for the info Alan,I've ordered a series 2 long bottom hose & will modify to suit,
Another question, I've just put my dynamo on & have found a miss-alignment of 10.0 mm in relation to the waterpump/crankshaft pulleys.
Does yours lighn up if so could you please post a photo.I've taken the unit off & stripped thinking I might have put the pulley on the wrong way but not so it doesnt fit the other way so I'm at a loss at the moment.

Brian, can't get out garage at mo but pullies line up ok. Which pulley is out of line? Is it the dynamo, is it fitted ok on its mounting?

Do you have the type of dynamo mounting that has the detachable steel bracket? - if so here are a couple of suggestions as regards the pulley alignment.

1. The bracket that fits onto the head is fitted the wrong way round.

2. You are fitting the dynamo the wrong side of the bracket.

Looking at that area again makes me think I must be using a large part of my valuable horsepower driving that ruddy great belt!

Okay photos posted,I think the problem is with the pulley on the dynamo & that boss,your comments appreciated,does anyone have a photo of a dynamo boss ?

That dynamo pulley should be hard up against the fan.
Does the dynamo pulley have an integral distance collar and/or have you fitted a distance collar as well?

That doesn't look like a Morris pulley set to me. Mine is one-piece and has holes for a fan blade. Could you have a Ford Sidevalve pulley?

I agree with Phil (Silly not to, really) File the spacer back until the pulley fits flush to the fan piece.

The "spacer" is an integral part of the pulley,yes machining back level with the od of the pulley is an option but that will only gain me 5.0 mm,but infact it is the only option as turning the pulley around doesnt work as there is no shaft protrusion to secure,and once the pulley is hard up against the fan part there no more adjustment.

Is that a change of pulley or was it working before? The only other option, should you want to keep the pulley, is to shave a bit off of the long ali casting and space the dynamo back a bit. If that causes issues with the adjustment bracket then the pulley would have to be changed. The belt sits 13-28mm from the front face of the dynamo bracket on mine.

No more pipe bending, I'm afraid. Too much work required to make them and I have so little time.

In that case you have the wrong pulley/fan.

I believe that this is what you should have.

No spare original one. I might have a version with the extra bit on the front ground off (for holding the fan blades on). I haven't been out to the sheds in weeks due to a mix of weather and workload. I really must get out there and finish off a few items.

Guess what I have found the original split pulley in the loft of my garage & it fits perfectly so thanks again for your input & also Bryan Goslings .
