MM steering wheel and badges

Post by manlyvaleaussie »

Does anyone have a good picture of how the outer rim of the original series mm steering wheel should look, also the correct colours for the bonnet and boot lid badges. Thank you, Paul Follett. manlyvaleaussie Yuma, Arizona.

Paul, the pics below show the steering wheels as fitted. Colour seems to have been random. You see grey marble, beige marble, some almost tan in colour. Main thing is on the MM the centre of the wheel and steering column are painted brown. I must paint these on my own cars as both have later series 11 wheels fitted.

Badges, the front is the same as the pic on the top of the screen, blue writing around Morris, red bull and blue on the river below the bull. Back badges are generally not painted, although I have saw them done the same as the front.

Our Thames Blue car had a blue-grey wheel and John Gamble said his black car came with a reddish-brown one. I wonder if anyone at the factory bothered to try and match the wheel to the paintwork? We have several light brown ones and some tan ones.

My clarendon grey traveller has a grey marbled one which matches well! The other MMs are both later replacements. Stephen Gordon has discovered that there are dates moulded into the bakelite rims, but they are often worn away on well used cars
