Hello Phil,
I have gasket paper in the gasket sheet pack that I got the cork one out of - I've got 2 thicknesses 0.35mm and 1.2mm.
The gasket that came in the "tractor" screw-in filter adapter is 0.8mm. Guess I should use the thicker paper.

George.

Why not use the gasket that came with the adapter filter head?
You can use either thickness of gasket but my preference of the two would be to use the thinner 0.035mm provided you have good gasket faces.
The BMC filter head gasket is 0.825mm thick.

Phil, the tractor gasket is a different shape and size and I was going to use that when I got the 90mm M10 bolts (which arrived today, but I had to move the car yesterday).

Phil,
I have now replaced the cork gasket with the thin paper one.
Won't know if this will seal better until I fire up the engine, but the car is on axle stands and engine is in gear whilst I work on the pedals and master cylinder (another thread).

I changed the filter and oil yesterday on mine. Unscrewed easily enough with a leather strop with just a couple of drips. The HOF250 filter has a bypass and a drain-back valve so works well. No leaks. I'm going to order 2 more for the other cars.
Strangely, I had to use almost an entire 5 litre can of Penrite 20W60 when the manual suggests 6.5 pints (3.7 litres). Might be for the USHM2 engine?

Hello Rob, I still haven't found a suitable sized spin-on filter (length), but will go look at the HOF250 one that you mention.
At the moment, I'm using the original Purulator unit. George.

Got the engine fired up again, but the thin paper oil gasket is leaking. I will try the next thickness up.
I still haven't had a chance to look at the HOF250 filters.

Thicker paper gasket hasn't stopped the dribble leak - I even used a scraper on the mounting point surface to make sure that there were no leftover bits of previous gaskets.
Interestingly, there is a small hole in the mounting surface, that doesn't have a corresponding hole in the Purolator head fitting.
I hadn't noticed this before, until I removed the thin paper gasket which showed a slightly raised circular mark.
George.
