Re my last post,is there anyone on here who can regrind the crank and supply bearings for my sidevalve engine? I know there are numerous engineering shops around but I would prefer someone here to do the job.Or has anyone got a good crank with bearings for sale?
John.

ESM can supply the bearings ... and a number of classic and vintage car engine reconditioners / engineering companies are listed on the Old Car Services site. I would also suggest buying a copy of The Automobile magazine as a number of well known and highly respected classic and vintage engine reconditioners advertise within its pages.

As you may be aware the Series MM crankshaft is the same as that used in the Series E Morris 8. Morris 8 owners have successfully used the following companies for crankshaft re-grinding. Prices can vary widely so seek a number of quotations.

Forgot to mention, ask the company to crack test the crankshaft before starting the job.

If anyone wants proof that the side-valve is a durable little engine even after decades of neglect, read the description on this video:

Sounds as sweet as a nut John. Amazing that it runs so well after so long dormant in less than ideal conditions. A real testament to the quality and robustness of the engineering in 1949.
