Had to be towed home on Tuesday, gearbox had reverse and neutral!. Took box out yesterday and 3rd and 4th gear selector had broken in two. Looking for selector, part number x15634. item 82 on parts list plate C. This is on the central selector shaft at the back end of the box. Thanks in advance . Iain.

Iain, the same gear selector 4th and 3rd - part number X15634 is used in the 1939 to 1948 Morris 8 Series E four speed boxes.

Thanks sirrom918, been a bit busy but got one from a friend all fitted and back on the road again. busy machining one from solid steel bar, should be finished tomorrow. Funny the other selectors are cast iron except the reverse one and 3/4th alloy with steel insert. on MMs and series Es.

Indeed, nice bit of work.

As you’ll have just done this (!) could you let me know which way the gearbox mounts fit to the gearbox flanges?
Is it the long or short side mounts to the flange?

I think it’s long side towards front of car. Wan t to be 100% sure before I rig the engine and gearbox back into the shell

I must confess I put the gearbox in and jack it up then see which way is best fit without the fan chopping lumps out of the radiator! 8) I will have a look underneath tomorrow.
