Types of roof lining material

Hello Colleagues,
By "roof lining" material, I mean the "backing boards" that the visible surface material is attached to.
When I got my 1950 low-light saloon, it was devoid of any roof lining.
I opportunely bought 2 sets of used roof lining boards, both of which are a thin plywood.
Both sets were missing the lower window trim.
I have removed the lower window trim from my 1951 High-light saloon, for a pattern, and the board is made from a type of card (oil card?), like the door cards, footwell panels and rear panel trims.
Does anyone know when the roof panel material changed?
My 1956 Series II face-lift Traveller has plywood lining panels, covered in what looks like rexine.
I need to fabricate the panel that fits below the rear small window.
The High-light's 3 main roof sections are oil (?) board and they are very badly warped - I was going to use one of the plywood sets to replace them.
