Does anyone have a prop shaft/ drive shaft for a Series MM Morris Minor, different to all the others, photo attached.
Thanks,

Not sure what you mean by different .

Here’s two I have.
The silver in the Nuffield type from my series mm
The rust is the BMC type from a series ii

Both cars have the older Nuffield type back axle

The MM has a drive flange at the rear of the gearbox whilst the Ser 2 has the sliding joint. They are not interchangeable.

Mike,
it is the Series MM one that I am interested in, the one that has been cleaned up but it looks a little worse for wear, any idea of price?

Thanks,

Paul,

Here in the UK companies such as Bailey Morris will manufacture one-off brand new Hardy Spicer prop shafts for the likes of late 1930's Austin 7's and Morris 8's etc. The 1939 to 1948 Morris 8 Series E Hardy Spicer prop shafts are very similar in specification to Series MM Minor shafts though the overall length may differ. The Morris 8 Series E and Series MM Minor use the same Hardy Spicer K5-L1 needle bearing journal unit (55 AssY, 58 AssY and 59 in the illustration below). The 1945 to 1952 MG TC and TD sports cars also use the same Hardy Spicer K5-L1 journal units and there are lots of MG T Type specialists in the USA (for example: 'From The Frame Up') that may be able to suggest similar prop shaft manufacturers in the USA that would build a new shaft to your specification. The illustration below is of a 1939 to 1948 Morris 8 Series E prop shaft.

Paul,

Here's an image of Section 18 'From The Frame Up' catalogue describing the items they can supply for the MG TC Driveshaft / Prop Shaft. The six figure part numbers in the far right hand column link to the same parts together with illustrations on Moss Motors site - link below.

Note they can supply for the MG TC prop shaft (which may be very similar to the Series MM) - two new flange ends (bolts to both gearbox and differential), a new yoke, new U/J's, new greaser and new bolt sets.

Paul,
I have one here in Canada. It is missing the cork seal, part # 129 . I would think this could be made or purchased from Moss Motors.

Doug,
I did send a PM but I'm not sure you received it, so could you please indicate the overall condition of the drive shaft, specifically if the yokes and flanges have been damaged where the u-joints are installed, for example has someone hammered on them and so distorted them.
Thank you,
Paul Follett manlyvaleaussie

Paul,
Received your pm message but cannot seem to pm you back. The shaft has not been hit with a hammer. Overall condition is fair to good.
Trying to figure out how to pm you.

I wonder if the late 1500cc MG Midget one could be lengthened?

Why not get a prop-shaft made?
I had one made for when I fitted the Ford gearbox.
